Merzigo Sans
We designed a performance-driven typeface for Merzigo in collaboration with FUHA × Typografische.
Merzigo Sans was developed using insights drawn from six years of data analysis and hundreds of billions of views, specifically for content that reaches millions of users across YouTube and other digital platforms. It is consistent, clear and confident across both Latin and Arabic scripts.
As a continuation of this process, we designed the UX/UI of merzigosans.com and brought it to life as a no-code build using Framer.
Turning content strategy into typography
Merzigo is a global Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (MVPD) that manages and monetizes thousands of hours of video content across digital platforms. We designed Merzigo Sans to support the brand's strategic growth. The typeface was engineered to capture viewer attention instantly and enhance performance across YouTube and other digital channels. Our focus was on translating Merzigo’s analytical depth into a functional design system built for high-velocity digital environments.
Designed for maximum impact on YouTube
In the high-velocity world of YouTube, a thumbnail has only a split second to capture attention. Merzigo Sans was specifically engineered to serve high-traffic channels where visual performance is non-negotiable. We optimized every weight and curve to ensure maximum legibility and pop on screen, even at the smallest sizes. By prioritizing high-contrast geometric structures, we created a distinctive typographic voice that stands out in a crowded feed, driving higher engagement and a unique visual identity for content creators.
Extending the visual identity to the Arabic script family
Expanding the font into the Arabic script family was a strategic move to ensure a unified visual identity across the Merzigo ecosystem. Our focus was on seamlessly transferring the characteristic geometric traits of the Latin version into a new script system. We meticulously adapted the font’s bold strokes and modern foundations to Arabic typography, ensuring visual consistency across both script families. This dual-script harmony enables the Merzigo brand to maintain a holistic visual identity across digital environments without compromising on style or legibility.
Building a dynamic showcase website
To introduce Merzigo Sans, we designed and developed a comprehensive showcase website. We built the platform to allow users to directly engage with the font, transforming the typeface into a dynamic digital experience rather than a static display. We integrated interactive tools that enable users to test various weights and examine the full character set in detail.
To showcase the font's versatility, we also curated a series of sample visuals and mockups across different creative scenarios.
Developed on Framer, the website ensures that every detail of Merzigo Sans is presented with precision and high performance across all devices.
